Types of Angels
The Bible refers to many types of angels, with duties such as guides, protectors and messengers.
The reason for the appearance of angels varies throughout history and location. We often see angels depicted as winged creatures, exquisitely beautiful figures glowing, shining and floating looking very human.
Strangely although we think of Angels belonging a very specific religious thinking, Angels are also recorded in the Koran. “You shall see the angels circling around the throne, giving glory to their Lord.
Some believe the most relevant of all angels, is our guardian angels, and that when we die we will be taken to Heaven by the angel of death, a caring angel not all the spectre of death it is sometimes thought to be.
Throughout history soldiers have seen “Warrior angels" protecting them as go into battle battle.
Angels watch over us and are with us from birth to death. Many think we have an angel to guide and protect us during our time on earth.
Dionysius gives a hierarchical order of angels starting with Seraphim, Cherubim, and the Thrones.
The word Seraph or Seraphim (plural) is associated with the Presence of God. Cherubim are guardians with many wings. Thrones kneel before God.
